STAT (formerly known as the Special Tertiary Admissions Test) is independently developed by the Australian Council for Educational Research (ACER). There are two different online assessments, STAT Multiple Choice and STAT Written English. You can sit them together or separately, depending on your admission requirements.

STAT - Quick reference

Australian universities - please check directly with your chosen university for courses that accept STAT for entry. WA candidates should contact TISC for information on STAT test dates and WA university entry.

Universities outside Australia including: University College London (for Computer Sciences courses), Massey University (for Bachelor of Veterinary Science course, students should contact Massey directly to register for the test) and Hibernia College (for Bachelor of Science (BSc) in General Nursing).

For information about specific courses and admission requirements, please refer to the relevant university websites.

STAT is available to any person who is applying to study a course for which STAT is a prerequisite.

STAT is a computer-based test administered online via remote proctoring. Test takers can sit STAT from any suitable location that meets the technical requirements of the test.
The remote proctoring service is provided by ProctorU, a leading global provider of comprehensive testing & assessment services.

VISA and Mastercard credit/debit cards, American Express, China UnionPay and JCB cards are accepted for payment. Concessions or payment by instalments are not available. For refund and deferral terms and conditions please go to the refunds and deferrals webpage.

Payment is part of the online booking process and payments cannot be accepted over the phone or in person.

Understanding STAT Scores

STAT scores are reported as a mark on a scale ranging between 100 and 200, with a mean of 150. The scale score reflects the differing abilities of the test takers and the different degrees of difficulty of the test questions.
